Lawrence Gunther’s passions include Fishing, podcasting, writing, creating documentaries, and the conservation of Canada’s many amazing fishes and their habitats. “As a person without sight, I depend on the feel of my fishing rod, talking and audible electronics, SCUBA, Science, local and indigenous knowledge, and my Blind Fishing Boat to explore Canada’s largely hidden underwater worlds” says Lawrence Gunther Euteneier.
Ffishing upwards of 20 tournaments a year with the support of numerous top sponsors, Lawrence decided to do more to give back. “I spent two years creating the documentary “What Lies Below”, and then used the film’s licensing fees to establish the Canadian charity “Blue Fish Canada” to support local champions and their communities.”
“Before youth can become Canada’s next generation of stewards of the outdoors, they first need to form their own one-health life-long connections with nature.” To ensure youth of all abilities and backgrounds have access to the outdoors, Lawrence has led the development of programs such as Get Ready for Fishing, the Blue Fish Explorer, and now the Blue Fish Centre, a fully accessible off-grid youth outdoor exploration centre and research station.
